ABOUT

Chadaé Nichol is the current Artistic Director at Illinois Conservatory for the Arts. There she oversees the program development, and serves as a forward-facing ambassador for the school’s mission to create high-level arts programming while also providing direct industry access. Originally from the Chicagoland area, Nichol has been committed to seeing the Organization grow into a top choice for youth training in the arts, not only in Chicago, but nation-wide for the past four years.

In addition to her work as Administrator, Nichol works as a Production Director, Choreographer and Educator whose work is rooted in truthful storytelling, actor-centered collaboration, and intentional leadership. With more than a decade of experience directing productions, coaching performers, and leading creative teams, she is known for cultivating rooms that are collaborative, artistically rigorous and highly efficient.

Nichol's approach balances creative exploration with clear communication, allowing actors to do their best work while keeping productions aligned with their artistic vision and logistical goals. Her background as a working actor informs her directing process, fostering trust, specificity, and performances that feel both authentic and resonant with audiences.

Nichol has led arts education and creative development initiatives for organizations and emerging artists, bringing the same commitment to excellence, collaboration, and integrity to every project. She also continues to work as an Artist as time aligns, in order to stay connected to the ever-evolving industry.
